Margate Road, Herne Bay, (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2017

(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2017
To allow carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing works to be carried out in connection with a recent development, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Margate Road, Herne Bay.
Closures are planned from Monday 18 April 2017 for an estimated total period of up to 8 weeks.
~ There will be no direct access between Thanet Way and Herne Bay using Margate Road during these works ~
Margate Road will initially be closed between the junctions with Talmead Road and Mill Lane.
The alternative routes are
Northbound via Margate Road interchange, A299 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road and Mickleburgh Hill
Southbound via Mickleburgh Hill, A291 Canterbury Road and A299 Thanet Way to Margate Road
For approximately one week, Talmead Road will be closed at the junction with Margate Road, and can be accessed via Mill Lane, with access controlled by temporary traffic lights to maintain a safe pedestrian walking route.
Whilst Talmead Road is closed, waiting will be prohibited at all times on the southern side, between numbers 29 to 45.
There will also a closure of Margate Road between the northern roundabout of Margate Road interchange and the junction with Mill Lane for final surfacing.
Access to Talmead Road will be then maintained from one or other direction, as signposted on site.
Due to the extensive nature of these works, it will not be possible to re-open the roads outside the working hours.
