SCHOOL LANE, HERNE
(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING)
TEMPORARY ORDER 2018
To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of School Lane, Herne, near Herne Bay.
A closure is planned from Monday 18 June 2018 for an estimated period of up to 6 weeks.
School Lane will be closed between the junctions with A291 Herne Street and St Martin’s View.
Access to the remainder of School Lane continues from an eastern direction up to where the road is actually closed.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road (South), Hunters Forstal Road and Mill Lane back to School Lane, with the same applying in reverse.
Due to the nature of the works, the road will need to remain closed outside the working hours.
Access for any residents affected will be maintained when it is safe to do so, but subject to delays and certain times when this is not possible for safety reasons.
