Open Gardens Day on Sunday June 9th from 10am to 5pm.
We don’t have stately homes or vast acres but we have one of the biggest Open Gardens Day in Kent, there will be 15 gardens open. The gardens range from the tiny but perfectly formed to large and lovely, with some ‘still a work in progress’. The gardens include Herne Junior School and the allotment gardens in Ford Road.
Entry is by Programme (with brief descriptions of gardens and map) which costs £5 a head (accompanied children free).
This year Programmes are available from the Herne Centre, School Lane Herne, Kent, CT6 7AP (near Herne Bay) access via School Lane Car Park and from participating gardens.
There will be an art display and garden and produce stalls, including plants for sale.
Refreshments including Ploughman’s, Hot dogs, Cream Teas and Cakes, are available at selected gardens.
Proceeds will be shared between Catching Lives Registered Charity No. 1014868 and Herne & Broomfield Community Projects.
Herne Mill is open from 2-5pm with a separate admission fee.
Visitors can start at the Herne Centre or any garden (look out for the pennants and posters).
The event is organised by Herne & Broomfield Parish Council, please phone 01227 742700 (office) or 07711 260021 (on the day) for further details.
