Warning to residents after tools stolen from vans – June 2019

Warning to residents after tools stolen from vans

Overnight between Tuesday 18 June and Wednesday 19 June 2019 two vehicles were targeted in Herne Bay where various tools, worth thousands of pounds, were stolen.

Kent Police officers are urging tradesmen and tradeswomen to be vigilant.
PC James Gall from the Community Safety Unit said: ‘We appreciate it’s not ideal to remove tools from cars and vans on a daily basis but would encourage people, where possible, to do so or consider additional security measures. In these instances doors were forced and locks were damaged. Consider CCTV if you don’t already have it along with security lights on your driveway.
‘All residents should bear this in mind. Certainly don’t leave anything on display, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. All it does is gives thieves an opportunity to window shop.’
Anyone with information about the thefts should call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting references 46/117304/19 and 46/117723/19 for Victoria Park or 46/117552/19 for Cavendish Road. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously on 0800 555 111.
